Transferring to Website from 123-Reg to Weycrest Servers
Here is the relevant information you need to transfer your website or domain from 123-Reg to work with Weycrest Servers.
Many people are concerned when transferring domain names, the process can be really simple. In the case below we carry out what is known as a "partial transfer" from 123-REG. With this method administrative control (billing etc) for the domain name remains with 123-REG but the nameservers are updated so your domain management remains with 123-Reg, you but your domain name points to your hosting plan with Weycrest.
An example of some Weycrest nameservers are as follows:
ns15.weycrest.net
ns16.weycrest.net
The correct Weycrest Nameservers will be provided in the Welcome email provided when you signed up for us.
Nameserver Change at 123-REG Instructions
- 1). Login into the 123-REG Control Panel
- 2). Select your domain from the drop down list
- 3). Select "Change Nameservers" under the "Currently Managing" menu
- 4). In the next screen enter the nameservers provided in the Weycrest Setup email into the boxes for "Nameserver 1" and "Nameserver 2"
- 5). Click "Change Nameservers"
Please note that DNS updates are not instantaneous and you should allow at least 24 hours for your site to resolve to Weycrest Hosting.
Transferring your website from 123-Reg
Transferring your website from 123-Reg is really simple!
- 1). Login to the FTP account on your 123-Reg hosting account using your FTP Client (Cute FTP, Filezilla, SmartFTP etc
- 2). Select the files you wish to transfer
- 3). Drag the files onto an appropriate folder onto your computer
- 4). Login to you Weycrest Plesk or Cpanel FTP account (These details provided to you upon signup)
- 5). Drag or copy the files from your computer to either the httpdocs folder (Plesk Hosting) or the public_html folder (CPanel). Alternatively you can use the online file manager in the control panel
Please note its not possible to transfer a 123-Reg "Instant Site" at the current time. Any websites created this way would have to be recreated using our own "Sitebuilder service.
