Weycrest - Acceptable Use Policy

This policy defines the acceptable uses for the resources provided by Weycrest to its customers.

General

Weycrest reserves the right to suspend or cancel a customer's account for breaching this policy.

Weycrest will send an email to the contact email address for the account or contact the telephone number provided with the account, and give detailed information on the reasons for the suspension and of any follow up action that is required. Wherever and whenever possible, we will work with the customer to resolve the problems identified and to restore the services.

Weycrest will aid all law enforcement and government agencies in any legitimate queries made, and will contact these agencies with any infringements or incidents detected.

Customers who believe that they are being unfairly treated under this policy should use the Complaints Escalation Procedure.

Web Hosting

Sites must not contain illegal or copyright material. Customers must be prepared to prove that they have the rights to publish any material.

All space provided with hosting plans is for the storage of files relevant to the web sites hosted under the plan. All files must be part of the web sites, and directly linked to the web sites. Sites should not contain backups not relating to the site, hidden downloads or other non web-based content.

Scripts and web programs must be designed to only produce web content, and not to use the server as an application server. Scripts should not attempt to manipulate the server settings, access privileged server resources or attempt to access other sites on the server.

Sites must not contain pornographic or other lewd material. Weycrest reserves the right to define upon inspection whether material is classified as pornographic or lewd.

Sites must not use excessive amounts of system resources on a server where such usage adversely impacts other system users. This includes bandwidth, disk space and processor utilization.

Service provided is for the purposes of web hosting only. Additionally we do not allow the following types of hosting on our service.

1. Pure adult orientated websites (erotic, artistic or photographic may be OK) - please check if unsure.
2. File distribution websites e.g. a website distributing very large movies, software or mp3, includes Bittorrent and other P2P networks
3. Hotlinking or "Leeching"Hosting, graphics, banners, animations or cgi/php/python scripts or databases for other websites hosted elsewhere
4. Backup, Storage, File or FTP Hosting Storing pages, files, data or executable as a repository for other websites, servers or desktops machines
5. Secondary reselling. Not to offer "free" or reseller hosting space to third parties on our shared platform, or give away web space under a domain, sub domain or directory
6. We do not allow proxy websites to be hosted on any of our shared web hosting services.

Resource Usage

The Hosting Services is defined as the provision of web space on our servers to enable you to upload pages and files for the purpose of publishing websites

If the "Hosting Service" allows you 'unlimited' server space for normal routine "non-file-distribution" web usage. For websites that allow downloading of video, audio or other files we reserve the right to impose a bandwidth (data transfer) limit of twenty-five (25) gigabytes (26,843,545,600 bytes) per calendar month. Non-file-distribution usage will remain unaffected by any limit imposed on downloading of video, audio or other files.

You may not continuously use more than 10 % of our server's processing capacity on the shared platform. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems, including (but not limited to) CGI scripts and intensive FTP, PHP, MYSQL or HTTP operations

Your web hosting and email activities must not burst for more than 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.

You must not use the Hosting Services as an offsite backup facility. Therefore, all files uploaded to our servers as part of your usage of the Hosting Services must be visible and accessible to the outside world (web-visible) unless they are needed to operate the website of which they form part; We reserve the right to delete files or directories that are not web-visible without giving notice to you.

You must not run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.

You must not run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.

You must avoid running cron entries with intervals of less than 30 minutes

When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include("http://yourdomain.com/include.php") use include("include.php")

While our shared services are suitable for the bulk of our customers, there comes a time for some websites when they are better suited for a larger plan, which allows for more dedicated CPU and memory resources. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to discontinue service to any customer with a website or other hosted data that takes up more than 10% of the server resources and/or 10% of the server's CPU. This means that if your website is found to be utilizing more than 10% of the CPU and memory of the service, we reserve the right to take your site offline. If this becomes necessary, you can either upgrade your hosting package, or request a pro-rated refund of the amounts you have paid in advance for the services. Due to the severity of this, and our ability to act quickly to correct these situations to avoid server issues, we will do everything reasonably feasible to provide you with a warning prior to taking your site offline, but we accept no obligation to do so.

The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file (a webpage, image file, email, etc) on your account uses up 1 inode. Sites that slightly exceed our inode limits are unlikely to be suspended; however, accounts that constantly create and delete large numbers of files on a regular basis, have hundreds of thousands of files, or cause file system damage may be flagged for review and/or suspension. Over time, tens of thousands of messages (or more) build up, eventually pushing the account past our inode limit. To disable your default mailbox, login to Plesk or cPanel and choose "Mail", then "Default Address", "Set Default Address", and then type in: :fail: No such user here.

Email

Weycrest reserves the right to make changes to or to remove a mailbox where the usage of the mailbox has an adverse impact on the mail system. Common problems are circular forwarders, looping auto-replies and undeliverable replies to bulk emails.

Weycrest's email system must not be used to send unsolicited, offensive, abusive or obscene mail.

Weycrest's email system or web servers must not be used to send unsolicited commercial email (UCE or commonly called spam).

Weycrest reserves the right to remove email older than 60 days from its mail systems. Customers are responsible for backing up their own email.

Security

Customers are responsible for the security of their user names and passwords.

Weycrest will suspend any account where it believes the user name and password has been compromised and make changes to stop the illegal use of the account.
