Can I make money parking my Domain Name
In recent years registrars have started monetizing customers domains and allow you revenue. However the simple fact of the matter is you don't have to share anything with your registrar if you sign up with a domain parking programme such as Namedrive
To Sign up to Namedrive, add your domain - full instructions and advise are provided at Namedrive. Then login to your Plesk Control Panel at "https://yourdomain:8443" , click "Setup and enter the following URL to forward your domain to Namedrive in the "Destination URL" box:
http://www.ndparking.com/yourdomain.co.uk
It doesn't matter if your use Frame or Refresh forwarding. There is a lot more information contained on the Namedrive site. How well your domain will perform will depend on how well it attracts "click through" traffic or "typo's" and how well you optimise the domain for keywords.
A lot of people still use Sedo for domain parking and they are still among the market leaders. In our experience click through rates are lower on Sedo but you stand a better chance of marketing your domain. However you can sell your domain on Namedrive using their spotlight feature. Indeed decent parking revenue can dramatically increase the value of your domain.
I don't want to use my domain yet
This is not a problem as no one will take it off you for non use. You have registered a domain name for one or two years, and its now effectively yours. Perhaps you just wanted it as a personal or business email address. By default it will just point at one of our parking pages.
Domain Registered. What Happens Now?
You are now the proud registrant of a new domain name. What do you do now? Of course much will depend on why you purchased the domain name in the first place.
There are now tons of options and different roads to takeand we'll try to cover most of them here. Whatever happens, nothing is permanent (except perhaps cancelling your domain or letting it expire). You perhaps want to check your domain is registered correctly first. Depending on where you registered your domain, you perhaps want to check its registered in your own name. If you registered your domain with Weycrest this won't be a problems as we register domains in your name
You can check your domain name registration was carried out properly by viewing the particulars domain registrant details on any public WHOIS service.
Can I redirect my domain name to my some free webspace, or even MySpace?
You can redirect your domain to any free web or blog space, such as MySpace, Webjam, or Wordpress.Com using the Plesk Redirection feature as described above for Namedrive.
Ideally your free web space provider will provide the IP address of their hosting servers. You can then use Plesk's DNS Admin feature to redirect your domain to this IP address. This is better from a search engine viewpoint than web forwarding. Hopefully your free web host will provide nameserver addresses, usually something like ns1.somewebhost.com and ns2.somewebhost.com in which case log a support ticket with Weycrest to change the nameservers
Can I modify my DNS A, MX and CNAME records for my Domain?
You can change your DNS records with Plesk, however you can't change the actual nameservers to another provider without raising a support ticket. However its possible to modify your existing records, that is change IP address, add or deleate A or CNAME records. Its even possible to map your MX and mail records to Google Mail. If you get stuck, just provide Helpdesk with the instructions given to your by your hosting provider. We will do the rest for you.
I bought a domain name with a Weycrest web hosting package
